Heinrich Friedrich von Diez (1751–1817) is primarily remembered as Goethe’s advisor on oriental studies and as a book collector. However, as a freethinker, orientalist, and diplomat, he engaged in correspondence with many scholars of his era, including Gleim, Nicolai, Dohm, Tychsen, and Mauvillon. This volume compiles all of the currently known and accessible correspondence.
