These are the first lines of the foreword to the cultural journal Realidad, which was published in Buenos Aires from 1947. This study analyzes this ambitious albeit short-lived cultural project as a southern contribution to postwar discourse, offering a critical miniature view of global intellectual history for a world shaken by crises.
