This work explores the utilization of Amino Acids (AAs) for the fabrication of lead-halide perovskites and related materials. Tailored fabrication strategies allow using, for example, 3-aminobutyric acid to improve the optoelectronic performance of semiconductor thin films, e. g. by transferring chiral properties or by significantly reducing superluminesence thresholds. Further, the use of AAs and other organic spacers for the design of layered heterostructures is discussed and demonstrated.
